Let the Earth Rise! is more than a concert, it is a musical experience featuring world-
renowned artists who will engage the audience in a journey through darkness into shared light through their performances. The headline for the Let the Earth Rise! concert is the
acclaimed Paul Winter Consort. Each year, the Paul Winter Consort dedicates a musical event to the celebration of Earth Day, and this year Asheville is the location chosen for this highly sought-after event. The Paul Winter Consort will be joined by Pianist Arsha Kaviani, Cellist Joshua Roman, and world music group Roots Grown Deep.
More about the Artists:
The Paul Winter Consort has performed the “earth music” they pioneered for audiences around the world from New York’s Carnegie Hall to the Miho Museum in Japan. Paul Winter’s musical realm has long embraced the traditions of the world’s cultures, as well as the extraordinary voices of what he refers to as “the greater symphony of the Earth.” With his various ensembles, Paul has toured the world, performing over 3,000 concerts in 52 countries. With his music, he has found a means to connect people to a sense of place, promote relatedness to the larger community of life, and assist groups supporting local cultural and biological diversity. He has produced 45 albums for his Living Music label, seven of which have won Grammy Awards.
Arsha Kaviani is a pianist and composer celebrated for imaginative, genre-blending
performances that unite virtuosic classical repertoire, improvisation, and original works. Born in Dubai to Iranian parents, he began as a largely self-taught musician before studying at leading UK conservatoires and working with renowned mentors including Daniel Barenboim and Lang Lang. Named a Steinway Artist and one of International Piano Magazine’s “30 Under 30 Best Pianists,” he has performed with major orchestras worldwide. Known for his originality and warmth onstage, Arsha is dedicated to making classical music vivid, accessible, and alive for contemporary audiences.
Joshua Roman is a cello soloist and composer, hailed for his “effortlessly expressive tone... and playful zest for exploration” (New York Times), as well as his “extraordinary technical and musical gifts" and “blend of precision and almost improvisatory freedom... that goes straight to the heart" (San Francisco Chronicle). His genre-bending programs and wide-ranging collaborations have grown out of an “enthusiasm for musical evolution that is as contagious as his love for the classics" (Seattle Times).
Roots Grown Deep is a cross-continental ‘beyond genre’ musical and educational
ensemble curating a soundscape called Musical Ecology, supported by a wider family leading regenerative projects.
