Your Path to Volunteering at Emberlight

Volunteers are at the heart of our mission—and every volunteer becomes a member of our conscious living and dying community.

Becoming a Volunteer means actively offering your time and presence in love and service to others on a regular basis. Our volunteers are the largest service we provide - our commitment to conscious living. Volunteering offers you an opportunity to belong to a loving community, create meaningful relationships, practice holding death close to make life more meaningful, and of course an opportunity to serve* in the way that brings meaning to your life.

We welcome you to explore volunteering with us through a thoughtful process designed to orient, support, and prepare you for meaningful participation.

The first step is to attend a Discovery Session—offered on Zoom to answer any questions you may have and introduce you to our values, volunteer opportunities, and the spirit of the work. Sessions are held at various times of day to accommodate schedules. Our next round welcoming new Volunteers will take place in the Fall. After joining a Discovery Session, you’ll receive the next steps to complete your onboarding and begin your journey of service with us.

Sign up to stay tuned and we'll be in touch with more details.

*The American Medical Association in a recent study showed that belonging to a community, and regular acts of service are both essential for longevity and positive mental health while aging.

“In working with those who are dying, I offer another human being a spacious environment with my mind in which they can die as they need to die. I have no right to define how another person should die. I’m just there to help them transition, however they need to do it.”

~Ram Dass
