One Voice Emberlight Community Choir

We are remembering who we are. We invite you into a dynamic, celebratory, and naturally healing process of collective singing, where we discover our voices together and honor the many reflections of conscious living and dying.

This is Loving Presence in practice. When we sing communal songs side by side, we are deep listening, bearing witness, and building the kind of warmth and solidarity that draws our community closer. The choir is a place where joy and reverence meet, and where every voice belongs.

The choir is open to all Emberlight members, volunteers, and community members, whether or not you think you can sing. Talented vocalists and musicians are warmly invited to help us bring the choir to its highest potential. Our purpose is to discover our voice together, blending fun exploration with semi-serious training as we grow a sustainable repertoire, joyful solidarity, and a shared commitment to learning and mastery, even from a wonderfully diverse pool of experience. Opportunities to perform at Emberlight events and at aligned events around the greater Western North Carolina region will be announced throughout the year.

Rehearsals run from 6:30 to 8:00 pm on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month. We gather at the Light House, or outside under Mother Oak in good summer weather.

Reciprocity is donation-based, supporting our artistic directors and the continued care of Emberlight's services and spaces.

About the directors:

Joel Karabo Elliott (jKe) is a composer, musical healer, and multi-instrumentalist whose music moves between his two homelands of the United States and South Africa. He is the steward of Roots Grown Deep, a cross-continental ensemble and creative community whose music tends to life's great thresholds of birth, initiation, and death.
