About the Event
Some songs carry us back to a moment. Others carry us forward.
On the evening of September 20, Lathrop Brown invites you into an intimate concert at Willow Moon Farm, where music becomes a way of remembering what matters most.
With Greg Lathrop on piano and Jay Brown on guitar, we will move between original compositions and familiar covers, pausing between songs to share the stories behind them. This is more than a performance. It is a reflection on how the chapters of a life find their way into the music we make, and on what it means to embody love and mercy in our own storied lives.
Emberlight and Willow Moon Farm share a way of being in the world: deep listening, gratitude, and respect for all that lives. At Emberlight we practice loving presence and imagine a world where every one of us awakens to the power of love and service. An evening like this is that practice set to music, a chance to gather as community and hold space for the tender and joyful truths a song can carry.
Your hosts for the evening:
Greg Lathrop is a member of Emberlight's Elder Council and a retired registered nurse whose more than forty years of practice have spanned acute, critical, emergency, hospice, and integrative care. Alongside his nursing life, he apprenticed for thirteen years in a traditional Indigenous medicine lineage and is recognized as a Medicine Elder in that Way of healing. He carries a simple teaching into his work: that people wish not only to be cared for, but to be loved.
Jay Brown is a roots-music songwriter and one-man-band from nearby Black Mountain who has been playing guitar since the age of seven. A prolific writer in the American folk and rock traditions, he has recorded original music alongside Emberlight founder Aditi Sethi. You can find his work at jaybrownmusic.com.
Music runs from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Willow Moon Farm, 3652 Gabriel's Creek Road, Weaverville, NC 28787. Seating is limited, so we invite you to bring your own chair. A small number of chairs will be available at the barn.
This gathering is offered as a benefit for Emberlight and Willow Moon Farm. In the spirit of conscious giving, registration is pay-what-you-can, with a suggested contribution of $30. Whatever you are able to offer, you are warmly welcome.
Please note that all event tickets are non-refundable, except in the case that Emberlight cancels the event for any reason, a full refund will be issued.
