Returning Dying to the Community

Walking Each Other Home

A heartfelt conversation led by Emberlight volunteer, Paul Rollins, whose decades with the Ram Dass community shaped his deep understanding of presence, service, conscious dying, and the simple truth that we belong to one another.

At Emberlight, Paul quietly embodies the teachings of humility, compassion, and love in action. Through his ongoing volunteer service, he has helped strengthen the infrastructure of our comfort home with solar energy systems, battery backup support for resident rooms during outages, and thoughtful creative support during our recent rebranding journey.

Alongside this practical service, Paul shares something equally meaningful: the lived understanding that we are all just walking each other home.

That simple truth sits at the heart of Emberlight’s mission to return dying to the community, where volunteers, caregivers, friends, and loved ones gather around one another with compassion, presence, and support through dying and the grief that follows.
