My love is service...I learned that in my 30's with the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act. My first job after certification in Special Ed was to find children who had never been in school.....that took me all over Henderson County and into Buncombe.....children of 6, 7 and 10 some were young adults 14, 16. I was asked to teach them in their homes. This just did not work so eventually lobbied for a classroom for the multi-handicapped (that was the word in those days). It was the first in WNC. That classroom at East Flat Rock Elementary is still there. This life of service continued and eventually yielded service in an End of Life Home (before Hospice had residential homes) in Winston Salem where we cared for folks in their last 6 months of life. Sound familiar...yes, that is why I had immediate recognition of CCLD and knew this was a beautiful service that fit a need on another turn of the spiral. Along the way, I studied Sufism, Hinduism, Buddhism and the Ageless Wisdom. A long time meditator and artist and most of all a "warrior of light". I see you all who are drawn here and so glad to a part. So grateful to service again and again.
